Looking to bolster his squad before the transfer window closes, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has announced his intent to pursue Joe Cole. If he can only find him.
"I've looked everywhere for the lad, but it's like once he left Chelsea he just disappeared," a confused Redknapp told reporters. "There were rumors of him being spotted in Liverpool, but I asked Kenny Dalglish and he said he has so many midfielders that it was statistically probable Joey was there, but he hasn't seen him."
Redknapp first signed Cole for West Ham when he was just a schoolboy and gave him his first-team debut at the age of 17 in 1998. Now, 13 years later, Redknapp hopes to track down the lost England international.
"Since no one knows where he is, I asked some of the players to go out and see if he turns up anywhere. Peter Crouch is going to look up in the trees and high cupboards, Jermaine Jenas is going to wander around aimlessly like he usually does and Luka Modric volunteered to go see if he went back to Chelsea."
Despite having no leads and limited time left in the transfer window, Redknapp remains hopeful that Cole will be found.
"He'll turn up," Redknapp said as he revealed a missing person poster with Cole's smiling face on it. "And if he doesn't, at least we've still got David Bentley."
