If there's one thing Alex Ferguson hates more than not winning, it's talking to the press. So when one brave reporter asked about the struggles of both Manchester clubs in Europe when given the chance to pose one last question, he walked out of the press conference after laughing off and flatly denying such a notion. Even though his side had just experienced a 2-2 draw against Benfica thanks to an own goal and an equalizer that resulted from a poor attempt to clear by David De Gea. Which leaves them with three draws from five matches in what was considered to be a cupcake group.
But that was all lost on Ferguson. "We didn't deserve what happened tonight," he said (before walking out). Man United now face Basel, who earned a 3-3 draw at Old Trafford and sit one point behind them and Benfica, in a decisive final group stage match.
Ferguson did end up returning to the press room shortly after walking out, but only to bludgeon the reporter who annoyed him with a hot iron.*
*Just kidding. He actually burned down the whole press room. He never went back in.
