Paralyzed cranial nerve won?t end Gattuso?s career

Paralyzed cranial nerve won?t end Gattuso?s career

Rino Gattuso hasn't played since a clash of heads with Alessandro Nesta in the 20th minute of Milan's first match of the season exacerbated a pre-existing eye problem. In the time since, the 33-year-old Gattuso has been diagnosed with paralysis of the sixth cranial nerve and unable to use his left eye.

From La Gazzetta dello Sport:

The prognosis, on the other hand, is not so clear. Gattuso has been training hard, but it is impossible to say when he will be able to make his comeback. Some people have gone so far as to say that his career is over, though the doctors have denied this.

They probably denied it because they know Gattuso will eventually terrify that paralysis out of his head. Or they did it because if they didn't, Gattuso would eat them.

Either way, there's no reason he can't play with this condition as long as he does so while wearing a pirate's eye patch. Think about it. Rino Gattuso, in an eye patch, and even more angry than usual because he can't see properly. Even though it would be more difficult for him to actually play the game, that sight of him out there like that would prompt opposing teams to forfeit immediately.

Get well soon, Gennaro.
